Lamp Chops with Toasted Curry
Prep time: 10 minutes
Grilling time: 5 to 8 minutes
16 rib lamb chops, each about
3/4 inch thick
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Vegetable oil

1. In a small skillet over medium heat, combine the coriander, cumin, pepper, ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, and cloves. Toast the spices until the aromas are apparent, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer the mixture to a small bowl and add the turmeric and salt. Blend thoroughly.
2. Remove the lamb from the refrigerator and let stand at room temperature 20 to 30 minutes before grilling. Trim the chops of excess fat. Lightly brush the chops on both sides with the oil and season on both sides with the curry. Grill over direct medium heat (350°F to 450°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, until cooked to desired doneness, 5 to 8 minutes for medium rare, turning once and swapping their positions as needed for even cooking. Serve warm.

The Estefans’ empire reaches beyond South Florida with Costa d’Este
Gloria and Emilio Estefan are as much a part of the South Beach scene as tropical drinks (which are quite good at Mango’s, the Estefans’ restaurant on Ocean Drive). Now the Grammy-winning duo is taking residence on another Ocean Drive. Announcing the long-awaited opening of Costa d’Este, the Estefans’ new beachfront hotel located on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach. The hotel, its coquina-white, geometric façade a obvious nod to Miami’s historic MiMo architecture, features 94 guestrooms and suites, plus a pool, spa, fitness center and facilities for meetings and weddings. At the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando the company unveiled its Vitamin C line. The golf shirt’s fibers are infused with Vitamin C nutrients, which are released into the wearer’s skin, offering natural hydration as well as UPF 30 sun protection. $72. Florida Beer Company
The Florida Beer Company of Melbourne has attached its malts to a bevy of Sunshine State locales: Ybor Gold, Beachside Light, and the very popular Key West brand. New to its Key West portfolio is Southernmost Wheat, a Belgian-style wheat ale dressed up in a — what else? — Key lime-colored label. With a haze reminiscent of a hefeweizen, Key West Southernmost Wheat has an aroma of orange peel and coriander, with a hint of Key lime thrown in for good measure. Tastes great with: a sub-90 round at Key West Golf Club, one of Rees Jones’ earliest designs. For more information, please visit www.floridabeer.com.
